Telling the stories of history to better understand today

Why History Matters and Why The Stories of America are Important

Like most people in America right now, I find myself saying “what is happening” quite a bit. That goes for people on both sides of the aisle. I believe there are many issues at play, but I have found that this country has a severe lack of history knowledge. Unfortunately, there is so much history that isn’t covered in most schools in a K-12 education. I have found my passion in teaching United States history and I am working towards my eventual PhD so that I can be a professor. I have found in my studies that so many issues that our country is currently grappling with have strong and direct ties to events in history that continue to shape the country.

My goal with this blog is to work on my research and writing in a way that provides an accurate and exciting view of our history. We have so much potential to be a great nation, but before we realize that true potential, we need to have a frank and honest discussion about the true and accurate history of the United States.

As a student, I deal with primary source facts. I have a passion for accurate history and why it matters. Telling the truth is my primary goal. All I can ask is that you keep your mind open as you read. Sometimes, there will be things you may not want to hear. Unfortunately, not everything in history is pretty, but that shouldn’t stop us from reading the book and having a discussion.

We should never stop learning, never be closed off to the truth, never refuse to hear both sides of the argument fairly, and never be afraid to speak the truth. I hope you learn something from my writing. I appreciate you being here!
