Break out of the echo chamber.
Many of us are familiar with the term “echo chamber” ever since the 2016 Presidential Election. Divisions in values and ideologies have become more evident than ever, as has our lack of understanding of one another. The best way to make sense of it all is through human interest stories — stories of hardship and triumph, of perseverance and pain. Only then will we get a glimpse into each other’s lives and see just who really makes up the fabric of America. Only then can we start to mend.
Every two weeks, we will publish two stories that take different perspectives on a topic. We encourage you to read both, even if one makes you a bit uncomfortable. The goal isn’t to agree with everyone — it’s better to understand where they’re coming from: why they feel the way they do, even if it’s not how we feel.
It’s a modest exercise, but we hope you’ll join us in it, and we’ll do our best to bring every story to life. And if you have a story you’d like to tell, please contact us. We’d love to hear from you.
